Oven Convection Fan Not Working? 6 Causes and What to Do
A convection fan that will not spin is usually a failed fan motor, a seized blade, a door switch or a relay on the control board. Here is how to narrow it down.
Read the guideYou turn the knob, the burner lights, but the click-click-click does not stop. Or it clicks even with every knob off. Here are the 5 usual causes and the safe checks to try first.

A gas stove keeps clicking when the spark system does not stop after the burner lights, or when a switch stays closed with the knob off. The 5 most common causes are a burner cap that is not seated flat, water or spills around the igniter, a wet or dirty knob switch, a cracked igniter or worn spark module, and clogged burner ports.
Our stove and cooktop repair technicians service Wolf, Thermador, Viking, GE, Bosch, KitchenAid, Samsung and LG gas ranges and cooktops all over Mountain View, from Cuesta Park to Shoreline West.
If the burner will not light at all, see our guide on a gas stove burner that won't light. For electric glass tops, see electric cooktop not heating.
Clicking alone is usually safe. Gas without a flame is not. If you smell gas, turn the knob off, do not touch light switches, open a window and leave the house. Call PG&E or 911 from outside. Never leave a burner on that is not lit.
The cap must sit flat on the burner base. If it is tilted, the flame is uneven and may not reach the igniter tip. Many ranges, like Wolf and Thermador, keep sparking until the flame is sensed. Lift the cap and set it down again so it drops into place.
Boil-overs and cleaning sprays can leave liquid around the igniter. Moisture makes the spark jump to the wrong place. Dry the area with a towel and let the burner sit for a few hours.
Each knob has a small switch under the cooktop. Spray cleaner can seep down the shaft and short it. The stove may click even with the knob off. Often it dries out in a day. If not, the switch needs to be replaced.
A white ceramic igniter with a crack can spark in the wrong place. A worn spark module may send spark to every burner nonstop. A technician tests both and replaces the faulty part.
Grease and food in the burner ports cause a weak or uneven flame. Some stoves cannot sense a weak flame and keep sparking. Clean the ports with a stiff brush or a straight pin, never a toothpick that can break off.

Call if the clicking continues after the stove has dried for a full day, if only one knob causes clicking every time, if you see a crack in an igniter, or if a burner lights slowly with a puff. These point to a knob switch, igniter or spark module. Most stove and cooktop repairs in Mountain View cost about $150 to $450.
If another appliance is acting up, these guides can help: my oven is not heating up all the way, electric glass top stove burner not working, dishwasher no water and dryer not rotating.
The stove keeps sparking when it cannot sense the flame or when a knob switch stays closed. A misplaced burner cap, a wet or dirty igniter, or a worn spark switch are the most common causes.
Water or grease inside a knob switch, often after cleaning the cooktop, can keep the circuit closed. Let it dry for a day. If it keeps clicking, the switch needs to be replaced.
The clicking itself is not dangerous, but do not let gas run without a flame. If you smell gas, turn off the burner, open windows and leave the house before you call for help.
Most stove and cooktop repairs in Mountain View cost about $150 to $450 with parts and labor. A knob switch or igniter is usually at the lower end.
