Oven Convection Fan Not Working? 6 Causes and What to Do
A convection fan that will not spin is usually a failed fan motor, a seized blade, a door switch or a relay on the control board. Here is how to narrow it down.

Detergent stays in the cup when the dispenser door does not open, or when the water is too cool or too weak to wash it out. The 5 most common causes are a dish blocking the dispenser, water that is not hot enough, clogged spray arms or a dirty filter, old or damp detergent, and a broken dispenser latch or door spring.
For help today, our appliance repair Mountain View CA technicians work on Bosch, KitchenAid, Whirlpool, GE, Samsung, LG and Miele dishwashers in every Mountain View neighborhood.
If dishes come out dirty even when the detergent dissolves, see dishwasher not cleaning dishes. If you see a white film, read our guide on dishwasher hard water problems.
This is the most common cause. A tall pan, a cutting board or a baking sheet in the bottom rack can keep the little door from swinging open. Load tall items at the sides or the back.
Detergent needs hot water to dissolve. If your water heater is far from the kitchen, the first fill is cold. Run the kitchen tap until it is hot before you start. If the dishwasher does not heat at all, the heating element or thermostat may have failed.
The lower spray arm washes out the dispenser. If its holes are clogged with food or scale, the water does not reach the cup. Clean the filter under the bottom rack and rinse the spray arms.
Pods stored under the sink can soak up moisture and clump together. Powder can turn hard. Keep detergent in a dry, sealed container and do not put a pod in the cup until you are ready to run the load.
The dispenser has a small latch that releases at the right time in the cycle. If the latch, spring or wax motor fails, the door stays shut. Press the latch by hand. If it feels loose or stuck, the dispenser may need replacing.

The dispenser door may not have opened, often because a tall pan or cutting board blocked it. A weak door spring, a failed dispenser latch, cool water or a clogged spray arm can also leave detergent behind.
Yes. Detergent works best with hot water. Run the kitchen tap until it is hot before you start the dishwasher, and check that the dishwasher heats the water during the wash.
Yes. Hard water leaves a chalky film and makes detergent work less well. Mountain View water can be fairly hard, so a rinse aid and a regular filter cleaning help.
